New client win for Hendrix Rose PR

We are pleased to announce that Hendrix Rose PR has won the PR account for background screening firm Personnel Checks, as the Lancashire-based firm looks to accelerate national growth amid rising demand for compliant hiring solutions.
The Blackburn-headquartered business, part of PC Group, has appointed us to raise its profile among SMEs and larger employers, while strengthening its position in conversations around safer hiring, compliance and workforce risk.
Serving more than 30,000 organisations, Personnel Checks is now focused on expanding beyond its referral base and into larger, more complex client accounts, as changes in the UK hiring landscape continue to drive demand for pre-employment screening.
The appointment comes at a time of growing pressure on employers to strengthen hiring processes. Increased regulatory scrutiny, ongoing labour shortages and the rise of flexible and self-employed working models are all contributing to greater emphasis on robust background checks. Recent legislative changes allowing self-employed workers to access Enhanced DBS checks for the first time have further expanded the scope of screening services.
As part of this partnership, we will deliver a strategic communications programme aimed at increasing national visibility, building authority in compliance-led hiring and supporting business growth. Our activity will include media relations, thought leadership and campaign-led storytelling designed to position Personnel Checks at the forefront of industry conversations.
Led by CEO Jack Mellor, Personnel Checks has achieved more than 300% growth over the past five years following a family management buyout in 2017. The company recently reported a record financial year, with gross profit approaching £2.5 million.
The 34-strong business remains fully self-funded and has made significant investments in technology, including the development of its own proprietary platform to replace third-party systems, enabling faster innovation and greater operational control.
Earlier this year, Personnel Checks completed its first acquisition with the purchase of Know Your Candidate, with further deals planned as part of its ongoing growth strategy. We will support the amplification of these milestones, alongside building the industry profile of CEO Jack Mellor and supporting future acquisition activity.
Gemma Eccleston, managing director of Hendrix Rose PR, said: “We’re pleased to be partnering with Personnel Checks at such an important stage in its growth journey. The business has an incredibly strong story to tell, from its impressive commercial performance to its commitment to innovation and responsible business practices. We’re looking forward to helping elevate its profile and positioning the team as leading voices in safer, more compliant hiring.”
Jack Mellor, CEO of Personnel Checks, added: “We’ve built strong momentum as a business, from developing our own technology to completing our first acquisition and achieving record growth. Now is the right time to invest in raising our profile nationally and ensuring our story is heard by the right audiences. Hendrix Rose PR brings the strategic expertise and energy we need to support that ambition, and we’re excited to work together as we enter the next phase of our journey.”
Together, the partnership will deliver a coordinated programme of campaigns, media relations, corporate profiling and sector-led storytelling aimed at driving brand awareness, digital performance and continued growth.
